Don't Agree With The Negative
"You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives." (Genesis 50:20 NLT)
This scripture ends with a powerful ending by revealing the plan that God has for us which is "the saving of many lives". Remember we are co-laboring with God to save as many people as possible to Christ, because "it does not please God to see any of his children perish". This scripture shows us how God can use us to our full capacity. That no matter the situation we may find ourselves in God can use that situation to bring good about. Which therefore encourages us during our tribulation to stand in faith trusting that God can change any situation. Notice how the scripture says "to accomplish what is now being done". Dictionary.com defines the word accomplish as, "to bring to its goal or conclusion; carry out; perform; finish" (Dictionary.com, 2017). This means that what has been planned for you will be finish. God brining you out of a situation is far from luck it is intentional. Notice how it says, "but God intended it for good", that means God plans good things for you. That he will make sure get accomplished no matter what.
This scripture also reveals the plans of Satan, which are to "harm me", which can be physical, mentally, and spiritually. In the process Satan works draws attention to the negative, getting us to agree with negative. How many times have we seen the beginning of a negative situation and before you know it we have allowed our minds to play out just how much worse it can get. And just like God is intentional in planning good things for us, Satan is the opposite. Notice how the scripture states that Satan "intended to harm me", keeping in mind that Satan comes to "kill, steal, and destroy". This is why we need to be able to distinguish the works of God from the works of Satan. Instead of agreeing with the negative we need to start looking for the solution, the blessing, the exit sign that says "this way back to God". Understanding that God will create a way out of any situation, and we need to praise him for the solution. Now the solution may not be as easily visible as the negative situation the enemy creates, but if we live in faith according to the word of God we know help is on the way.
